Elimination of Wage Discrimination
During the EBRD audit, an unjustified disparity in base salaries was identified between expatriate and local professionals performing comparable engineering roles. The existing compensation system did not provide objective justification for these differences based on qualifications, experience, or specific job requirements. As a result, the company was found to be in breach of the Equal Pay for Equal Work principle.
Our team conducted a comprehensive job grading exercise and an in-depth audit of the company’s Compensation & Benefits (C&B) structure. A transparent qualification matrix was developed, incorporating professional experience, level of responsibility, language proficiency, international certifications, and other objective requirements for each position. Based on this framework, job descriptions were revised and the salary structure was adjusted accordingly.
As a result, the company implemented a new compensation system and an updated staffing structure in which remuneration is determined by objective job requirements and professional qualifications rather than nationality or expatriate status. The EBRD recognized the revised compensation framework as transparent, fair, and non-discriminatory.
