Occupational Health & Safety Incident Response
An occupational accident occurred at a contractor’s site. During the subsequent review, EBRD auditors identified a delay in reporting the incident as well as an attempt by local management to conceal it. This was considered a serious breach of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements, resulting in the project being classified as a critical risk.
Our team immediately joined the investigation and, acting under a power of attorney from the General Contractor, ensured that all necessary legal and organizational procedures were properly completed. Negotiations were conducted with the affected party, and it was formally documented that there were no outstanding claims against the project or regarding the applicable Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) conditions. At the same time, all supporting documentation related to the corrective measures was collected and consolidated.
Following the intervention, a comprehensive Corrective Action Plan (CAP) report, supported by the complete set of relevant documentation, was submitted to the EBRD. The Bank’s auditors confirmed the transparency of the procedures and the adequacy of the corrective measures taken. As a result, the sanctions imposed on the project were lifted.
